Karen Danella's Cedarwood Soaps Karen Danella, owner of Cedarwood Soaps, has been making natural soaps since 2001. Karen began by walking the halls at her job while on her way to the copier or delivering paperwork, with a huge basket of soaps wrapped in tulle and ribbon. Naturally, people would be curious to see what was in the large basket. She also began working many craft fairs, and her customer base grew from there. With a degree in Business Management, Karen also graduated from Von Lee School of International Aesthetics, where she learned the art of skin and makeup care. In addition, Karen extensively researched and developed her soap recipes using the most beneficial skin care ingredients. Every bar of soap at Cedarwood Soaps is enriched with skin nourishing shea butter and other moisturizing, luxurious oils, clays, and botanicals. Karen's rich, creamy, & luxurious soaps can also be found online at www.cedarwoodsoaps.com, or email cedarwoodsoaps@yahoo.com, or by calling 410-923-4244.
New to the Market this month - Cathy Sparkles. In their own words: "We are Annapolis area moms with great aspirations of greening our homes. We went to great lengths to learn, read and absorb everything there is to know about creating a non-toxic, healthier home - to oust the toxic, chemical-laden conventional cleaners so many of us rely on for the sake of convenience. During the research process it became apparent that creating your own household cleaners from all-natural ingredients can be an overwhelming process--one that people like me might normally give up on--unless you have everything you need in one easy place. To make going green easier, cheaper and more convenient for everyone, we've put together everything you need to make your own all-natural green cleaning products in one fast, easy and fun kit. We include personally created and tested recipes, hard-to-find ingredients like pure essential oils, and even the eco-friendly re-usable containers you need to make everything as simple as humanly possible. We like to say it's ridiculously fast & easy (because if it weren't I wouldn't do it). At the Green Market we'll be doing mixing and cleaning demonstrations, helping people mix their own "green cleaning cocktails" on the spot, and selling the supplies to do it all at home. Our customers will save time and money, reduce waste, help the earth and help their families by instantly reducing the toxins in their homes. Above all, we want to help give other families the same opportunity for a healthier, greener home without hassle, that we've given ours. In fact, given the aromatherapy properties in our recipes, we think it's possible to make cleaning hour (almost) as fun as happy hour!
Goebel/Hummel early 1960s Nativity SetDebbie & Steve McKerrow started Chesapeake Estate Services after having to handle Debbie’s uncle’s estate on Long Island. A classic pack-ratter, his house was literally filled to overflowing… but with interesting, collectible things. They just had to dig through the clutter to find them, and then learn about their value and the best way to sell them. Once they did, Debbie realized they could do the same for others who don’t have the time to do what’s necessary to successfully empty Mom or Dad’s house. Since 2004, Chesapeake Estate Services has conducted Estate Sales throughout Central Maryland and on the Eastern Shore for seniors who are downsizing and families who have to liquidate assets after a loved one has passed away. Debbie & Steve are committed to making these often difficult life changes as stress-free as possible. Aware that they literally touch a person’s whole life when going through someone’s home, they approach the task sensitively and with respect. The company can also be hired to create the required personal property inventory and valuation required by the Orphan’s Court when an estate is opened. And, they can do personal property valuations for insurance purposes, supplying the client with a printed report and photo record of items and their replacement values. The West Annapolis 2nd Sunday Green Market was the company’s first foray into selling antiques and collectibles outside of an Estate Sale. They followed last season’s experience with a booth at an antique show in Chestertown and at the West Annapolis Oktoberfest. They’ve been collecting items throughout the winter in preparation of this season’s Green Market and are looking forward to beautiful weather and meeting new friends. Chesapeake Estate Services. You can contact them at: 410-279-3382 or www.ChesapeakeEstate.com or ChesapeakeEstate@verizon.net.
![]() If you really want to talk recycled and upcycled, you have to check out the creations from Cross the Street. The combination of Marty Anderson's quirky and whimsical antiques, and Terry Zabolodney's "compiled" furniture takes it to another level. Both are lovers of found objects, and Terry's carpentry skills transform old furniture legs, shutters, tin roofing and other bits and pieces of the past, into fun (and spectacular) pieces of functional furniture - as you can see from the photo! You can find Marty and Terry at each of the West Annapolis 2nd Sunday Neighborhood Green Markets.
Look for honey and holiday greens from Bill and Bobi Crispens of Crispens’ Farms & Greenhouses. Established in 1943 as a tobacco and corn farm with a 6-tree orchard and 3 acre vegetable patch, Bill and Bobi began taking over operations in 1977 and reclaiming the land, going commercial in 1981 when they joined the Anne Arundel County Farmers Market. The first greenhouse was added in 1987, with potted perennials and herbs coming on in 2003 and cut flowers in 2005. A peach orchard was added in 200, and the apple orchard offers antique, heritage and modern apple varieties. Crispens' Farms follows some organic, conventional and integrated pest management practices, using as little pesticides and commercial fertilizer as possibly. They offer our fruits and vegetables when they are in season, along with honey, crafts and Fall and holiday greens. You can meet Bill and Bobi every month at the Market, or catch them at the Tuesday and Saturday Riva Road County Farmers Market, or at their Farm Stand July through October at 820 Generals Highway in Millersville. Email them at vze338br@verizon.net, or call to see if they have what you want; retail, wholesale and bulk inquiries are all welcome.
![]() For the person who has everything, how about a clock or lamp made from recycled bicycle parts? That's the specialty of Charlie Dodge. In his words: "I have been a serious cyclist for over 20 years and a mechanic, welder, fabricator for over 40 years. Several years ago I conceived the idea to combine these two activities by making artful items from used bicycle parts. I mainly make clocks, but I have also make lamps, key chains, key holders, belt buckles and sometimes just fun things. I have shown my work at many craft shows in the Annapolis area and have items in the Purple Poppy in Crownsville and the River Gallery in Galesville. Each item is uniquely designed as a one-of-a-kind piece. In addition, I also have a variety of home-grown vegetables for sale along with my artwork. You can find me every month at the West Annapolis 2nd Sunday Neighborhood Green Market. Or you can call me at 410-841-6269 or email me at MyMerc@comcast.net."
And if you get a clock or lamp for "him", how about something from Laura Anderson's Eclipse Designs - fashioning jewelry out of old automobile parts - for her?

The beginning of Freedom Bakery goes back to 2006 Sarah was diagnosed with Celiac Disease which is an auto immune disease triggered by gluten that is found in wheat, rye and barley. The gluten free food that was available to her was not very good. The thought that this was what she had to look forward to the rest of her life started to make her depressed. Her mother, Lisa, couldn't let this happen. So the two women got into the kitchen and started baking, figuring they couldn't do any worse than what was already out there. For three month they baked three loaves a day, changing recipes, add to recipes, baking, baking, baking. Finally one day they looked into the oven and there illuminated by the oven light was what looked like the perfect loaf of bread. When they opened the oven the smell that wafted out was that of bread. But they still had to wait until the bread had cooled before they could slice into it. Then it was time. They got the bread knife and sliced away. Inside the loaf it looked like bread. The perfect crust and the even little holes. They clinked the slices together like champagne glasses and bit into it. At that moment Angels sangs and trumpets blew. It was very good bread. From that one loaf of bread came the knowledge and understanding of this new flour that they were to work with. From this one loaf of bread came cookies, cakes muffins, pies and everything else. And Sarah would be able to enjoy eating again. Then one day Sarah came in and told Lisa that she had quit her job. That wasn't a bad thing. She was unhappy there and it was time. But Sarah still worried about what she would now do. With that Lisa said, "We're going to open a bakery. A gluten free bakery. There have to be people out there that don't have the time, resources or knowledge to do what we've been doing the last three months. How hard can it be?" Well they found out how hard it was. But after 8 months they finally opened and have been open for one year and 5 months. They are adding more and more recipes and making more and more friends. They are excited to see what their future will be.
