Welcome to our developing project Homegrown & Green.
Homegrown & Green is about the people and lifestyle of Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay Region, presented as a radio talk show on AM 1530 WCTR at 11:30 Friday mornings, and here as an E-Zine.
Written and hosted by Marilyn Klompus, Homegrown & Green is a celebration of our people, our land, our produce and products, and the preservation of the lifestyle and environment we cherish.
We'll follow the development of the Upper Eastern Shore from its first settlers to our most recent arrivals, and how all have contributed to bring us to where we are today. From the “homegrown” native watermen and farmers to the “green” newcomer artists, entrepreneurs and retirees, Homegrown and Green explores the ties that bring and bind us to this place we have chosen to call home. Woven into their stories is an exploration of our economies – those that have sustained us for generations and those that are emerging to sustain us through the 21st century – our produce and products, and the challenges and pressures we face in maintaining our rural heritage while edging toward progress. Homegrown & Green is a warm, insightful tribute to this place we call home, and creates a forum for discussing the issues that face us today as we navigate the future.
Homegrown & Green also promotes and stages events and fairs that highlight the people and products of Maryland's Chesapeake Bay Region. Visit our "Projects" and "Upcoming Fairs and Markets" pages to find our upcoming events.
