HOLLYWOOD PARK, TEXAS. Hollywood Park is near the junction of Loop 1604 and U.S. Highway 281, twelve miles north of downtown San Antonio in northern Bexar County. It developed in the late 1940s and was incorporated in 1955. Its population in 1960 was 783; by 1970 it was 2,299. In 1990 the community had 2,841 residents. The population grew to 2,983 in 2000.

Demographics

 

As of the census of 2000, there were 2,983 people, 1,174 households, and 906 families residing in the town. The population density was 2,027.3 people per square mile (783.5/km²). There were 1,222 housing units at an average density of 830.5/sq mi (321.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 95.64% White, 0.27% African American, 0.27% Native American, 0.94% Asian, 0.13% Pacific Islander, 1.11% from other races, and 1.64% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 10.06% of the population.

 

There were 1,174 households out of which 25.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.6% were married couples living together, 5.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.8% were non-families. 21.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 2.87.

 

In the town the population was spread out with 20.7% under the age of 18, 3.4% from 18 to 24, 21.0% from 25 to 44, 27.3% from 45 to 64, and 27.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 49 years. For every 100 females there were 88.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.0 males.

 

The median income for a household in the town was $64,844, and the median income for a family was $81,702. Males had a median income of $52,344 versus $40,781 for females. The per capita income for the town was $34,138. None of the families and 2.7% of the population were living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 5.7% of those over 64.  

 

 

Geography

 

Hollywood Park is located at 29°35′57″N 98°29′7″W / 29.59917, -98.48528 (29.599126, -98.485197).  According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.5 square miles (3.8 km²), all of it land.

 

 

Education

Hollywood Park is served by the North East Independent School District.
