Hollingwood Bowling Club is always on the lookout for new members - whether you are a beginner or an established bowler looking to join one of our many teams.
Even though the club is totally self-funded, we offer membership at a very reasonable rate of just £30.00 per annum. There is a reduced rate of £15.00 for junior members (aged under 16 on January 1st of the current year)
To download a copy of our application for membership form please click on "download" at the bottom of this page
However, prior to committing yourselves to the annual subscription we allow all potential members five free visits to the green before asking them to enrol as a full member or pay on a per visit basis (£2 per day). This is with the view that people who have always wanted to try the game - but did not want to layout the initial expense - can come along and give it a go at no cost to themselves. The club has a good selection of bowls and other equipment available for use by anyone who does not have their own.
Whilst we always welcome members from any area, the above option is built round the club's community policy of allowing everyone - young or old - in and around our community to come along to the club and enjoy our facilities.
For people looking to join the club on a competitive basis we have eight teams playing across two bowling associations - the Chesterfield and District League and the Welfare Bowling Association. There are two Saturday teams (mixed), Monday Veterans (over 60s mixed), Monday Evening Welfare (3 x mixed pairs), Tuesday Ladies, two Wednesday teams (mixed), Thursday Veterans (over 60s mixed) and a Thursday Ladies team. We also enter a team into a Friday Floodlit league that commences later in the year.
We offer excellent facilities with a bowling green that is of such a standard that it is now being used on an annual basis for county matches by the Derbyshire Crown Green Bowling Association.
The facilities are directly adjacent to The Hollingwood pub and enjoy wheelchair access and ample parking.
The pub offers great refreshments and is often patronised by the membership for socialising and post match analysis - be the result good or bad! We work well with the management of the pub who support us as much as they can and generously supply us with refreshments on Saturday match days when visiting teams are always welcome to join us.
The club holds open competitions throughout the year - both singles and doubles - which always attract an excellent standard of bowling.
If you would like to come along and enjoy our facilities you are more then welcome to do so - one and all.
Directions to the green can be found on the "How to Find Us" page.
