JOIN US!
The Hobart Film Society (HFS) is the oldest current film society in Australia! HFS membership lasts for 12 months from the date of joining, and you can join at any time of the year.
The HFS shows films from a range of genres - comedy, drama, horror, thriller, western, musical, sci-fi, documentary and others more difficult to classify. We emphasise “classic” and landmark movies, and show a significant number of Australian and New Zealand films where we can.

Weekly screenings on a Monday at 7.30pm (see the Venue page for a map of location) (late January to early December) (at approximately $1 a movie!)
Films projected onto a cinema-sized screen.
A bi-monthly newsletter hobart film news, which details upcoming films will be available at screenings.
A weekly email newsletter reminding you of upcoming films.
Access to our HFS Facebook page.
Allowance for three guests per year*.
The opportunity to nominate films you would like to see.
Access to the HFS extensive DVD library.

A discount at the State Cinema.
A discount on purchases (usually around 10%) at the Hobart Bookshop, 22 Salamanca Square, Hobart.
