You may have heard or read about service dogs that have the ability to provide people with seizures some warning before these events happen, and you may have recently seen information on service dogs that can detect certain substances, such as peanuts, in the same manner that specially-trained narcotics dogs do.  Our family had been passively doing research into seizure-response dogs and the training that was involved since Heather Bain developed seizures at the age of 13, and she has since been diagnosed with multiple medical conditions for which a service dog could be trained to respond to, with the hope that they would also have the ability to detect and alert.  These intelligent, incredibly well-trained dogs are extremely difficult to find, and require months of intensive training.  We developed this website both as a source of information and to offer hand-made cards and other items available for purchase to help
with the cost of training of a service dog for Heather and our family.

After 9 years of research and countless applications, in September 2010, we found and adopted 2 adorable golden retriever puppies, Baron and Daisy, that were raised by a wonderful family that live close to us here; I don’t think I can thank this family enough for the incredible gifts that they gave us in these beautiful dogs . Both Baron and Daisy have the sweetest and gentlest dispositions imaginable, and are incredibly intelligent and intuitive. Even in the short time we’ve had them, they have already shown that they are sensitive to the
seizures and to the fainting,  and even more amazing is that they are also able to help with the allergy and anaphylaxis, as well as the complications associated with the adrenal insufficiency; again, our expectation was that both would receive response training for the hypotensive episodes and the seizures, and we hoped one or the other would show some inclination towards alerting for any one of the medical conditions. These puppies hey have developed their own alert and response system where one will stay with me (usually Baron), and the other (usually Daisy) will go get help.  These loving puppies have already made a huge difference for us, and have become invaluable companions to have added to our family.

Thank you so much to everyone that has generously contributed so much towards the service puppies an
d the training.  I plan on continuing to make my cards, including new ones of Baron and Daisy, and other items to help with the cost of the puppies with new card designs coming out for each holiday, as well as making and selling other items that I hope others will enjoy.  The purchase of any of the items listed on this website, and the money earned by these sales will be used towards expenses for our service dogs.  Please know that we thank you and very much appreciate your consideration and-this has been an incredibly difficult year for many, and we realize that this is a lot to ask.   We appreciate the prayers, kind words, and support that many have already given our family.  Even though it has been a very difficult couple of years for many, I’m overwhelmed and very grateful to those that have done so much to help us, both financially and emotionally. I hope that in some way, I will be able to repay the kindness that others have shown to our family, and let everyone know how much we truly appreciate their help and support.  Thank you so much again to everyone that has contributed so much!

Heather, Miss Daisy, and Mr. Baron :)
