如何開始 Getting Started


大概多數人學科學﹐都是初中﹐除非高中﹑大學繼續讀和生物學有關的﹐多數都對爭議不明所以。大部份初次接觸這個題目的﹐都有以下共同點﹕
  • 真的以為進化論仍然有爭議﹐還未有足夠證據﹐甚至以為那只是“理論”﹐不是“事實”
  • 相信教導其他解釋有助學習﹐學生多懂一樣東西是好事﹐特別是可以從多個角度看﹐配合通識教育云雲

神創論者與智慧設計論者令普通人信服的原因﹐是他們製造大量的思想陷阱 mind traps, 然後用令人眼花繚亂的所謂證據﹐利用人普遍對進化論﹑科學的不理解﹑誤解作為切入點﹐引導人相信他們的論據﹐所以這裡建議大家首先﹕

  1. 掌握對進化論的基本認知﹕去常見問題那裡﹕這個頁面會澄清一般人對進化論的誤解﹐讓大家掌握進化論和什麼是科學的基本概念﹐知道為何神創論與智慧設計論不是科學
  2. 了解事件來龍去脈﹕閱讀背景﹐我們交代了事件起因﹐然後去新聞報導﹐了解發展。此外﹐我們也提交大量文件去立法會教育事務委員會﹐可以去檔案庫看
  3. 辨識有關的思想陷阱﹐去常見問題那裡 "對演化論常見的誤解﹐神創論/智慧設計論者常用的論據" 會有一些初步的資料﹐反駮了常見的神創論者與智慧設計論者的論點

  1. 科學界對進化論/演化論是有共識﹐認為進化論/演化論是目前科學界經過反覆驗證﹑有大量證據支持﹑非常合理解釋物種多樣性的理論﹐包括了﹕(1) 美國科學發展委員會 (AAAS) 的聲明﹔(2) 網羅全球68個主要科學院的 InterAcademy Panel 的聲明。這個聲明包括了兩岸科學院﹑美國﹑英國﹑加拿大等﹔(3) 38位諾貝爾獎得主的聲明

  3. 方舟子著﹕進化論的敵人﹐說明了神創論與智慧設計論的爭議﹐是一個源自基督宗教的社會運動和背景

如果喜歡 YouTube﹐可以往多媒體那裡﹐看 YouTube 的材料﹐我們會不斷把好片加入。但由於是英文﹐所以需要有一定英文程度。

家長或者教師﹐可以往家長老師部份﹐找有關教材資源。
 
此外﹐大家也可以閱覽美國科學院出版社(National Academy Press) 2008年出版的 "Science, Evolution and Creationism" 的中文版﹐這小書由英文版翻譯過來﹐附有目錄方便搜尋題目﹐是任何要保護科學教育和維護正確生物學教育必看的。
 
Most of us studied science in junior high school, and unless one continued to university to study biology and in related discipline, most people probably will find it difficult to understand what is all this fuss about.
 
The Creationists/Intelligent Design proponents have done a lot of public media promotions, and quite a number of people we encounter, though being rational, actually believed that:
  • Evolution theory is still in doubt within the scientific community, that there are not enough evidence to support it, or that it is not even a fact
  • That introducing "alternative explanations" help student to better learn science and there is no reason to reject intelligent design/creationism
Creationists/Intelligent Design proponents owe their "success" to a ill-informed public, and their creation of mind-traps and loads of seemingly convincing "evidence" which created doubts  on evolution, and then they use their propaganda to mislead people that Intelligent Design is a legitimate science.
 
To dispell all these misunderstanding, we therefore suggest you to start as follows:
  1. Our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) allows you to gain basic understanding of what is science, what is evolution etc.
  2. To understand what this current controversy over the Hong Kong new secondary school biology curriculum, please refer to the Background; as for the development, check out the news at In Press.
  3. We placed all our submissions to LegCo Panel on Education at the File Archive area (we included also ones from "the other side")
  4. To recognize those mind-traps, misinformation and fallacies of Creationists/Intelligent Design, again go to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and look for the topic "Misunderstandings about evolution and common Creationist/Intelligent Design proponents arguments"
