HOMEPAGE

Welcome to my online home, complete with wood paneling for that cozy ski loft feeling.  This site is setup for you to learn a little about who I am, what topics spark my historical imagination, what I am up to right now, what I have been doing for the past few years and also what I plan on doing for the future.  So come on in, take off your boots and stay awhile!

My name is Jordan Goldstein and I am a 23 year old masters student enrolled in the Public History MA at UWO.  I love history but was unsure of how to incorporate this passion into an fulfilling career.  The Public History program is unique at Western because we are learning both how to sharpen our historical inquiry and critical reasoning skills while at the same time learning a multitude of practical workplace skills.  We then take these skills and use them to transmit history to the public at large through a seemingly endless array of mediums.  The most exciting aspect for me is the community aspect of public history.  We have the ability to share our love of history with professionals in other fields and collaborate on interdisciplinary projects which most traditional historians balk at.  Also, as a mediator between academia and the public, we can engage with and learn from the public to better understand and share the importance of history in our contemporary society.

As busy as us masters students are, my life and this page would not be complete without a mention of my other passion music.  I play guitar in a band call 'ill eagle'.  We are currently releasing our debut album independently and are very excited.  To me there is something holistic and spiritual about creating music with others and I would find it difficult to function without this energy in my life.  I believe that historians feel the same way about creating history which is a main reason I have gravitated towards the historical field.  As with music,  history if we cannot share it with each other has very little value for our society.  This is why the Public History route is the way for me!

Now that we are better acquainted I hope you stay awhile and get to know a little more about me!
