The NHS chapter at HIS is one of the school’s most elite and active clubs.  In order to be eligible for membership, students must have a grade point average of 3.45, evincing their scholarship.  NHS candidates must also demonstrate excellence in the areas of leadership, character, and service.

NHS sponsored events include the Blood Drive, Teacher Appreciation Tea, ushering at school events, and organizing the annual NHS induction ceremony.

Each year NHS members plan events that have become traditions at HIS.  One such event is our annual Music Video Night, for which students and teachers create videos for a live screening followed by awards voting.  The proceeds from this event benefit Just Children, the AIDS orphanage with which our service organization partners. 

In addition to MTV Night, students also organize the annual collection of goods for our Maintenance Staff Christmas Baskets, which is an opportunity for the community to recognize and thank the staff for their tremendous work in providing a beautiful atmosphere in which to learn.
