Our First Home
We closed on Earth Day 2008 (4/22/08)
Kitchen
Before:
These are before pictures with empty rooms when we first moved in. The door on the left is the basement door, in the middles is the pantry, and the far left is the door to the attached garage.
- paint walls --done!
- replace lighting --done!
- replace brass handlesets and hinges with brushed nickel --done!
- replace bi-fold pantry door with swinging door --done!
- paint cabinets --done!
- add crown to cabinets --done!
- build shelves to increase the island size and paint island --done!
- replace countertops --painted until we decide what we want
- replace appliances --half done
- install hardwood flooring to match the rest of the main floor --done!
- install new baseboard --still need nail holes patched
After:
Color on the wall is Glidden Autumn Mist. Island paint is Glidden Stillness (one shade darker than the walls). Butcher block counter is from Ikea (Numerar in Oak).
We painted the wall under the potrack with magnetic and chalkboard paint (Rustoleum)
Family Room

Color on the wall is Glidden Autumn Mist, the brown between the two rooms is BM Branchport Brown.
Dining Room

I'd like to refinish this dining set at some point.
Family Room to the Living Room

Powder Room
Hallway between the kitchen and the front door. First door is a closet, the second is the powder room. We are in the process of replacing the baseboards throughout the main level.
Before:One of the first things I did when we moved in was to get rid of this hideous wallpaper border. (There was more of it at the level of the wall socket, you can still see a remnant of it in this picture)

- install pedestal sink
- install new mirror --done!
- install beadboard --done!
- install high-efficiency toilet --done!
- replace lighting --done!
- install new towel ring and toilet paper holder --done!
After:
Color is Glidden's Stillness, it's one shade darker than the blue in the kitchen.
