This is the first painting in a series entitled ‘Behind the Scenes’.  The series is a collaboration between New York photographer, Nancy Fischer and me.  The combination of her keen capture of character shots along with my bold color interpretation is the inspiration for this painting.  Every life has snapshots that are revealing,   “Sideswiped’ is one of those moments.

Walking Proud

This is the sixth painting in a series entitled ‘Behind the Scenes’.  The series is a collaboration between New York photographer, Nancy Fischer and me.  The combination of her keen capture of character shots along with my bold color interpretation is the inspiration for this painting.  Every life has snapshots that are revealing,   'Walking Proud’ is one of those moments.
I really got into this painting...I love the way Nancy captured her in the original. In the photograph, young busy people surround her with their busy conversations.  She prods on through and blocks them out so she can remember the city of her youth. A city of colors of hope and no cell phones. She remembers when the culture was decent (in her eyes) she ignores it all because she knows better. She is you, she is me, she is every woman who is fast approaching the winter years of their lives and they can be thankful that they have made it this far. She walks through her city with peace and confidence that all the years behind her have brought her into being the woman she it today. She blocks out the foolishness around her and sees life through her seasoned heart.
