Computers have become an integral part of day-to-day life, and with the advent of personal and home computers, they have become an integral part of the education system. Having computers as part of ones education can prove very helpful in studies as well as securing better job prospects. In this age and time, computer literacy is a must!

Herrin FBLA attended the 2011 State Leadership Conference (SLC) on March 25 & 26, with over 1200 students from throughout the state. It was a great success with 36 of the 52 students attending placing in the top ten. Nine HHS students also qualified for National Competition which will be taking place in Orlando this June. Qualifying for nationals are Craig Bartelsmeyer, Nick Gregory, Rachel Young, Nicole Staples, Brianna Bartelsmeyer, Macy Russell, Brooke Crisler, Elizabeth Gillespie and Nicole Gharbawi. Nicole Gharbawi was also elected as the Illinois State Reporter for the 2011-2012 school year. |

Herrin High School's local FBLA officers, our state officer and myself attended the State Leadership Workshop in Springfield August 9-11. It was a great experience where we received information on fundraising, charity ideas and worked on building our Program of Work for the 2010-2011 school year. Craig Bartelsmeyer, Nick Gregory, Kristy Gualdoni, Rebecca Herman and Andy Siefert attended FBLA National Leadership Conference in Nashville, TN, June 18-22. They competed with over 7,500 other students from all over the country. It was a great experience and a great time. Check the FBLA website soon for pictures from the trip. Twenty-six of the fifty students who attended the Southern Illinois Regionals Conference on January 14th placed in the top three for their respective event. Herrin was one of eighteen southern area high schools in attendance. It was a great day and they all did a great job! |
