Harvard Habitat for Humanity's Stuff Sale is a fundraiser designed not only to raise money for charity, but also to help Harvard in its quest to create a greener, more sustainable campus environment. At the end of the academic year, students moving out of the Harvard dorms have the option to donate any items they no longer want to Harvard Habitat. Additionally, anything left behind in the dorms at the end of move-out is cleaned up by Dorm Crew and brought to Habitat as default donations. The Summer Habitat staff then works to clean and process all of the donated items, so that in the fall everything is ready to be sold at an enormous sale on the lawn in front of the Science Center. All proceeds from the sale go towards funding Harvard Habitat's spring break and now J-term service trips. In the past, trips have gone to exotic locations such as Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, as well as traveling more locally to North Carolina, South Carolina, and Kentucky. Harvard Habitat is also sponsoring renovation of a house in Dorcester with Greater Boston Habitat for Humanity.
