"What's in the Bag?" is an interactive for grade school children (K-2) available from readwritethink.org. It gives students three words that describe an object and then asks them to name the object ("what's in the bag?"). On the following pages you will find instructions for using this interactive with the aid of screen shots as well as ideas for using the interactive in the library. What's in the Bag? can be used as a starting point for creating a display geared towards children. A display could showcase several books dealing with different objects used in the interactive and these objects could be described using the words that the interactive uses as well as other appropriate words. It might also be fun to have small scale representations of the different things described in the interactive (cat, apple, telephone, etc.) and then have descriptive words on colorful pieces of paper that students can attach to the cat, apple or telephone. Educators can even use this as an opportunity to get students to describe all kinds of objects, not just those used in the interactive. Instructions Ideas for Use in the Library |
