About This Site

Overview

A library is not just a physical space -  a warehouse of books - but a virtual learning space, or learning commons. It is my hope that the Virtual Library Media Center will become a giant conversation, where all of you help to build the space. I have started by listing tools and information sources that I think are valuable and will continue to add to the site. Help out by becoming part of this knowledge community! Contact me if you have a tool or resource that you would like to see added to this site - or leave a comment on the bottom of this page!

NEW FOR THE 2011-2012 SCHOOL YEAR:
The library website has been reorganized with the hope of making the navigation more intuitive and to incorporate the use of some web 2.0 information portals. There is now a drop-down horizontal menu bar.

Goals for the 2011-2012 year include:
  1. To add to the Tutorial section of the site with tutorials created BY STUDENTS!
  2. To keep current on iPads, I have included a page of links with a 'scoop-it' embedded in it. The 'scoop-it' is an aggregator of iPad in education-related blogs and wikis.
  3. Information on using NOOKs and downloadable forms.
  4. Each school's homepage to be used as the librarian sees fit. I intend to use the Searingtown page to highlight amazing work being done in my school and to 'catch kids reading'.
  5. Your suggestions are always welcome!
