Biography

My name is Xochitl April Herrera Munoz and I am a Xicana born in October 7, 1990. I was born in San Diego California but raised in Oakland. I have an older brother of the age of 20 and a younger sister of the age of 8. When I was growing up I was really close to my grandfather. As a little girl, he was the person who gave me advice to accomplish what I wants to do in my life. Growing up, I always liked helping people and making them feel better. When I was in forth grade, that is when my mother had my little sister. Her name is Cynthia Citlalli. I love my little sister and I know that Cynthia looks up to me. So I hope that in the future when she gets to my age, she will want to go to college like I will.

In elementary I graduated from Brookfield Elementary School, and in middle school I graduated from Oakland Charter Academy. I am currently 17 years old and a senior at Unity High School. I am soon going to graduated on June 16, 2008. When I was a junior, I was barely starting to think about wanting to go to college. I was struggling a lot and stressing a lot and did not think that someone like me will go to college. But when I got to my senior year, I decided that I will like to attend college. My friend Lucero and Chantal made me change my mind and convinced me. They told me that I should go to college.

When I graduate from high school, I will be attending a Peralta College and then I will like to transfer to a CSU or UC. My dream is to be in the Medical Field. I will like to be either a Nurse, Medical Assistant or a Massage Therapist. I knows that I will benefit from this a lot and will make my family really happy and proud of me. I really want to go to college because my family has struggled their whole lives trying to give me and my brother and sister the best that they can give us and what we need to make us happy. So I will like to make them happy too.
