5.1a Subject and Object

Before consdieration of emergent phenomena can be contemplated in detail, we must understand how the present system of Entity relations can lead to the creation of Subject and Object.  In essence, the Subject-Object relationship is one of dominance, and within the model this dominance can take one of two forms; material or temporal.  In either case, the Subject Entity is that which is in possession of dominance at the point in time in question, and the Object Entity is that which is related to and "perceived" alongside the Subject Entity at that time.  Recall that there are two mechanisms for forming the interrelations of Entities, a variant of Hebbian modification or the Making Present feedback loop; the product of which one might conceptually visualize thus:

There are a number of ways in which this information could be presented visually, this image only shows the relative connections and relative number of connections each Entity makes, roughly proportional to the size of the Entities, though of course in a physical sense there may be no difference in the physical size of the Entities.

This image clearly shows the first type of dominance, material dominance; Entities that are relatively more heavily interconnected are statistically more likely to be identified within any set of data presented to this area of Interpretative filter, so more likely to reinforce and gain existing and new interconnections.  This is material dominance, and plays a key role in the formation of Star-Entities.

Secondly then is temporal dominance, one might like to think of this as "logical dominance".  This is where an Entitiy, irrespective of its interconnectedness, due to the pattern of data presented to the filter (both in content and temporal distribution) becomes dominant of other Entities.
