June 15, 2011 Gardeners & Friends, At the Garden Party last Sat, Members decided on Sat., July 9, from 9 AM to Noon to get started on rebuilding the greenhouse. So invite your friends, neighbors, family, and anyone who can handle tools and we can get the greenhouse up! Thanks so much for your support and interest in doing this. This time we'll have 2 doors, not one, for better ventilation. We had a great time at the Party, Saturday. Beautiful weather and the Garden looked great, even the weeds! It was fun to talk, eat, and share the produce bounty with Gigi & Niki! They in turn shared some fantastic buffalo wings from the Powder Keg. Thanks to all who came and the great food, as well as ideas shared for the Garden. Monday evening, June 13, was a huge success presenting the Garden to the Hercules Commission. The Girl Scouts came in their uniforms and were the highlight of the program. Thanks Girl Scounts, their Moms, and Catherine. Thanks to Ann Marie for presenting Ohlone School's important contributions to the Garden and its educational programs. Thanks to Sheila for talking about her experiences in the Garden and the free (except for supplies) classes we have had in the Garden. Thanks to Alison for talking about the landscape maintenance the Garden now does, as well as having the Garden use the Library for classes last winter. Thanks to Han for his support of the Garden. And to Sue and our newest Garden Member, Albert, for their input and support. We received lots of applause and approval from the Commission. And most of all, support! So keep July 9 open for the Garden to rebuild the greenhouse and we can further make plans together for future projects! See you soon in the Garden. Nita |
