HENs have just finished a tour of Hatfield and Potters Bar Primary Schools (Key Stage 2) with its newly written play 'Blue Face'. This play tackles bullying in its extreme form but also raises questions about mental health. It throws up questions on family life and relationships as well as inclusion and accepting people for who they are.
'Sean has an imaginary friend named 'Jack' and because of this is teased and picked on by Bella. As they embark on a school field trip the bullying escalates and whilst Faye tries to intervene, things take a turn for the worse and Sean's life is in danger.'
The programme lasts for 1 hour and the play is approx. 30 minutes in length. After the play hot seating and forum theatre take place whereby the children have a chance to ask the characters and actors questions about the play. We then get the children to pick key pivitol scenes within the play which could have made a difference to Sean's life. The children are then invited to take on the 3 roles and re-write the chosen scene.
