Dr. Cronqvist is the McMahon Family Chair in Corporate Finance, George R. Roberts Fellow, and Associate Professor of Financial Economics at the Robert Day School of Economics and Finance at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California. 

He received his Ph.D. in Finance from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago, and also holds an M.S. in Economics and Business from the Stockholm School of Economics.  Prior to joining CMC in 2008, he served on the faculty at the Fisher College of Business at the Ohio State University, where he was a recipient of The Pace Setters Outstanding Research Award, the College’s annual award for research contributions among its faculty. 

Dr. Cronqvist has developed and taught undergraduate, master, and doctoral courses related to corporate finance and governance, M&A, and private equity.  He is also active in executive education, delivering custom-designed programs in emerging financial markets such as Latin America and China. 

Dr. Cronqvist’s research interests include corporate finance, behavioral finance, and individual investor behavior.  His research has been published in top-journals in finance and economics, including the American Economic Review, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, and Review of Financial Studies.  Based on his research, he is regularly invited to give seminars at academic conferences, universities, and to policy makers in the United States and around the world, and several of his research papers have been recognized with Best Paper Awards at academic conferences.  His research has been featured in the Economist, Financial Times, and Wall Street Journal, and on PBS
