THAILAND: The size of the country is about 200,000 square miles or nearly the size of France in Europe or Texas of the USA. The population of Thailand is 60 millions approximately half of which are male. Hence, more or less than 3,000 of them have hemophilia. The most common type is 'A' followed by 'B' while 'C' is rare. Thailand is still a developing country.

Well over 60 years ago, the population of Thailand was less than 20 millions. Over one thousand of male population were affected. The author of this article, Narong Poopong, was one of them at which time he was only 10 years old.

Prince Alexis, Rasputin, Maharishi
In those days, the Thais did not like to go to hospitals due to lack of knowledge on modern medicine brought earlier to this country by Prince Mahidol who was the father of the present King of Thailand, and was himself a Doctor, receiving his medical qualifications from the Harvard School of Medicine. Hemophilia was only mentioned in the books; sufferers depended upon ancient medicine.

If you have a look at a developing country like Thailand, the need to know how to protect, in this case, your male offspring or you yourself as a male, is of a greater part of life than the one of a well-developed country. Accordingly, Narong took a round the world trip in 1977 to such those countries as, Canada, USA, UK, France, Italy, the Netherlands and others to learn the treatments given there. He persuaded then the Minister of Public Health of Thailand of what Mr. Frank Schnabel, the Founder of the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH), wanted him to do, i.e. to set up a Hemophilia Society in Thailand.

As it is mentioned in the Thai website, http://hemophilia07.googlepages.com/index.htm, that the National Health Security Office or NHSO of Thailand has included Hemophilia in the list of specific diseases under free national care and treatments. Hence, all hemophiliacs holding Gold Health Security Cards are entitled to such treatments from the government. However, this scheme is not yet successful throughout Thailand due to insufficient Hemophilia Treatment Centers and the demand on clotting factors is much more than supply. Besides, there are not enough healthcare providers who can take care of hemophilia nationwide.

Thus, the author of this article was compelled to seek a way to enhance his life painlessly.
From 1977 up to the present time, he has been practicing Transcendental Meditation (TM), as taught by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, primarily to find a way to eliminate the mental stresses believed to cause a number of ongoing illnesses assuming Hemophilia is one and its spontaneous bleeding is psychosomatic.

As a result, the muscles were then relaxed; stresses were also released . Obviously, the meditating process is by far more fruitful and superior to the Muscle Relaxation Technique in modern medical applications. As a delightful surprise, after a few weeks of TM practice, the frequency of bleeding episodes had decreased:
From 1-3 times a week to 1-3 times a year.
Naturally, both Physical Health and Mental Health are improved together as well as the immune system for the body. Thus, the physical disorder complications and illnesses heal automatically. It is most convenient, free, and saving numerous trips to hospitals or treatment centers without complications and adverse side effects.

Please note that this article is based on the personal experience of the author and is presented online as information only. It is an excellent prophylaxis for him, not to replace the conventional treatment of Hemophilia against the actual hemorrhage.
