Arc Resources Unlimited (ARU) Artistic http://www.arugallery.org In November 2006 Arc Resources Unlimited (ARU), a program of The Arc of Monmouth, and VSA arts of New Jersey collaborated on a new art gallery at the Freehold Raceway Mall, featuring work by artists with disabilities. The gallery offers exhibits, receptions with the artists, workshops, and open house gatherings. The gallery also retails sale of artwork at this major shopping destination in the heart of Monmouth County. In ARU's quest to promote the skills, talents, and dreams of people with disabilities, the collaboration with VSA arts of New Jersey was a natural progression.

These programs are essential to the total growth of an individual with autism. Traditionally, however, these kinds of programs don't often receive funding from state or local agencies, so DOORS was founded to fill the funding gap. Handicapped Scuba Association International Skill Development http://www.hsanjscuba.com HSA International Training Center of NJ is a scuba school dedicating itself to improving the physical and social well being of people with disabilities through the sport of scuba diving. Disabled diving provides an excellent form of physical therapy enabling children and adults to participate in a water sport locally or while on vacation travel. Many of us know someone, a friend or family member, we'd like to involve in scuba diving. Or, we'd welcome the challenge of learning about disabilities, accessibility issues and how to dive with people who have disabilities. The HSA "Dive Buddy Program" offers able-bodied divers this opportunity to expand their underwater world to include sharing it with a handicapped partner, with training focused on recreation.
