Helen Caple is a Lecturer in Media, Communications and Journalism at the University of New South Wales, Australia. She has a Master of Applied Linguistics from Macquarie University (Sydney, Australia), and completed her PhD with the Department of Linguistics at the University of Sydney (Australia) in 2009. She also has a BA (Hons) in Applied Language Studies (German, Spanish). Before joining UNSW Helen lectured in the areas of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and Linguistics at the University of Wollongong,  Media Discourse and Journalism at the University of Sydney and at the University of Technology, Sydney. Helen has also taught EAP and Media Studies at The University of Sydney Foundation Program and at the Australian Centre for Languages and worked for several years as a press photographer in the UK.
