Second Grade Stuff

Aug. 8 - We will go over the Computer Lab Rules and work on an All About Me activity.

Aug. 15 - The second graders are reviewing the toolbars Microsoft Word by typing their names while changing font size. 

Aug. 22 - We will read about What is a Computer? and continue reviewing the toolbars Microsoft Word by typing their names while changing font size and style.

Aug. 29 - We will continue reading and discussing What is a Computer? and continue reviewing the toolbars Microsoft Word by typing their names while changing font size, style, and color.

Sept. 5 - We will continue reading and discussing What is a Computer? and print our Word document with different font sizes, styles, and colors. How many did you find?

Sept. 12 - We will continue reading and discussing What is a Computer?

Sept. 19 - We will finish our What is a Computer? packets and begin our Excel spreadsheet of bedtimes. What time do you go to bed at night?

Sept. 26 - We will begin learning about Hardware and finish and print our Excel spreadsheet on bedtimes.

Oct. 3 - Students will continue to read and learn about
Hardware. They will be learning about the Keyboard and its keys.

Oct. 10 -
will be learning about the Keyboard in their Hardware packet. They will be using Excel to create a bar graph on Favorite Seasons.

Oct. 17 - We will read more in our packet on Hardware . They will finish and print their Excel graph.

Oct. 31 - Students will finish the Hardware packet and we will work on a group acrostic poem on Autumn. We will type in Word, changing font color, size, and style.

Nov. 7 - Students will work on their crossword puzzles based on what they have learned in their packets on What is a Computer? and Hardware.

Nov. 14 - We will continue to work on our puzzles and begin working on Shape pictures in Word.

In January and February we will be learning about Internet Safety using the CyberSmart Curriculum. 2nd graders will learn about keeping private information secure, using keywords to search for information, good manners when sending email or text messages, and Ads on websites.
