Aug. 8 - We will go over the Computer Lab Rules and learn where things are in the lab. Aug. 15 - We will review the Rules and learn about important keys on the keyboard. Homework will be to color those important keys on a keyboard. Aug. 22 - We will use Microsoft Word to type our names. This will be about following directions and locating keys on the keyboard. Aug. 29 - We are learning the parts of the computer and will go to Burton's Computer to practice what we have learned. We will click on the different parts to learn their names and what they do. Sept. 5 - We will create a computer in our packets by coloring, cutting, and gluing computer parts in the correct place. Sept. 12 - First grade students will be taking the STAR Reading test for the first time. This will give teachers a baseline reading level for each student. Sept. 19 - Students will finish the computer parts packet by completing a word search, a matching activity, and a fill in the blank page. Sept. 26 - Classes will be catching up on missed activities or practicing their mouse control using sites on Miss Heidi's Hub. Oct. 3 - Everyone will be practicing their Mouse Control using Bees N Honey. Next, we will review our Computer Parts using this fun site - ABC Ya! Oct. 10 - Students will be matching Computer Parts and then finding Computer Parts at ABCya! Oct. 17 - Students will finish their Computer Parts packet and type the word Rainbow in Word, changing font color and size.Oct. 24 - Students will begin a new packet on Computer Use and type an acrostic poem about a Rainbow, changing font color, style, and size. Nov. 7 - Students will learn about input devices in their packet and begin learning about inserting shapes in a Word document. January and February will be spent discussing Internet Safety.
