Fabulous Fourth Grade

Aug. 8 - We will go over the Computer Lab Rules and work on an All About Me activity and try to think of A Computer Word for Each Letter.

Aug. 15 - The fourth graders are reviewing home row keys and working in Microsoft Word to create a Name Poem using Word Art. 

Aug. 22 - We will read about What is a Computer? and begin typing our Name Poems.

Aug. 29 - We will continue reading and discussing What is a Computer? and continue typing our Name Poems.

Sept. 5 - We will continue reading and discussing What is a Computer? and finish typing and print our Name Poems.

Sept. 12 - We will be using Microsoft Excel to create a chart and a bar graph of planets' distances from the Sun.

Sept. 19 - We will finish our What is a Computer? packets and complete our Excel spreadsheet of Planetary Distances.

Sept. 26 - Students will begin a new packet, Computers @ Work, and
will begin a new Excel spreadsheet on Planet Sizes.

Oct. 3 -
Students will continue reading in their packet, Computers @ Work, and will finish and print their Planet Sizes bubble graphs.

Oct. 10 -
We will continue reading in their packet Computers @ Work and practice typing with home row keys in Microsoft Word. They will begin a research/report project on Ruby Falls in Tennessee.

In November and December we will be learning about using the drawing tools that are found in Microsoft Word and Paint. Students will draw houses and Christmas trees, using various tools to decorate and individualize their creations.

In January and February, students will be typing their Science Fair summaries and talking about Internet Safety. We will use the CyberSmart curriculum to discuss subjects like Privacy Rules, Be Comfortable, A Place to Advertise, and CyberSpace Country.
