Welcome to the University School of Jackson Lower School Computer Lab's web page. In the Computer Lab we learn about Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. We learn how to complete research projects using online sites, giving credit to our sources. We also develop our keyboarding skills in grades 3-5 using Type to Learn 3. I hope you enjoy looking at our work and connecting to some of our links. I can be contacted at hmcdaniel@usjbruins.org. During the months of January and February all classes will be using the CyberSmart Lessons and Activities to learn about Internet Safety and Security. 1st graders will be using the internet to learn about safety on the web. We will re-visit the Museum of Modern Art in New York City this week! 2nd graders will be learning about Internet Safety. Our topic this week is "Filling Out a Form - Ask First." 3rd graders will use Word to type their Desert Animal reports. They will draw pictures of their animals in Tux Paint and copy and paste the picture into their report. This is our last week on this project - they have done a spectacular job! 4th graders will be learning about Internet Safety. Their lesson this week is "Powerful Passwords" and we will be discussing how passwords protect our private information. Students will use what they learn to create a list of powerful passwords! 5th graders will begin typing their Science Fair reports. This week we will be typing the body of our reports and getting ready for the bibliography page. Be sure that you have your bibliography information with you when you come to class next week. We will use Son of a Citation Machine for our bibliographies. Your paper can be edited if your information changes as you complete your project. When they have finished they will have a choice of activities; Type to Learn 3 or Math Games. We will also begin our Math Challenges. These are activities and games designed for practice and reinforcement of grade level math skills. Math Games Challenges - sign in here!! When we are done with Science Fair reports, we will challenge someone - so keep your skills sharp! | LINKS TO Grade Level PAGES Doodle 4 GoogleJUST FOR FUN LINKS
