Week of February 6, 2012
Welcome to the University School of Jackson Lower School Computer Lab's web page. In the Computer Lab we learn about Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. We learn how to complete research projects using online sites, giving credit to our sources. We also develop our keyboarding skills in grades 3-5 using Type to Learn 3. During the months of January and February all classes will be using the CyberSmart Lessons and Activities to learn about Internet Safety and Security. 1st graders will be using the internet to learn about finding good sites on the web. We will visit the site CyberSmart this week! 2nd graders will be learning about Internet Safety. Our topic this week is "Using Keywords." We will be looking for information about guinea pigs at the Internet Public Library. 3rd graders will begin their unit on Internet Safety with a search "Finding Good Sites." We will use CyberSmart website to find sites to evaluate. 4th graders will be learning about "Privacy Rules" on the internet We will use sites found at CyberSmart to explore the privacy policies of websites. 5th graders will finish typing their Science Fair reports. This is the last week! We will finish typing the body of our reports and type our bibliography page so, be sure that you have your bibliography information with you when you come to class this week. We will use Easy Bib for our bibliographies. We will Spell Check and edit our papers as needed before printing. When they have finished they will have a choice of activities; Type to Learn 3 or Math Games. We will also begin our Math Challenges. These are activities and games designed for practice and reinforcement of grade level math skills. Math Games Challenges - sign in here!!
