Hedrick Smith

Hedrick Smith, the former New York Times reporter who was in the group that won a Pulitzer for stories on the Pentagon Papers, will be speaking to University of Washington journalism classes and at two lunches in early November.

On Monday, November 2, journalism students, faculty and people who care about open government are invited to a 12:30 lunch talk in Communications 126 on investigative reporting. The conversation will include using government documents and the role of whistleblowers. The lunch registration is now closed, but we will have seats for a few more people (it's OK to bring a bag lunch.)

On Tuesday, November 3, Smith will talk about international journalism at a 1:30 pizza lunch in Communications 126. All students and faculty are invited to attend this question-and-answer talk, which will focus more on Smith’s work in the New York Times’ foreign bureaus, including the Moscow, Saigon and Paris bureaus. There is more space available for this talk, but please do register.
