About Me:

Welcome to my Teaching Portfolio.  I am a New York State certified English teacher in grades 7-12.  I have worked with a variety of students at Harry B. Thompson Middle School in Syosset, Syosset High School, and Glen Cove High School, and have had many rewarding experiences.  My enthusiasm for English centers on my passion for Creative Writing, which I try to incorporate into my classes as frequently as I can.  Beyond my work as an English teacher, I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Literacy (5-12) at Queens College.

I hope this page provides some insight into my motivations for teaching and my ability to provide high-quality instruction.  If you would like to contact me, please feel free to email me at the link above.

My Favorite Authors:

"Remember that you and I made this journey, that we went together to a place where there was nowhere left to go."

                                                              ~Jhumpa Lahiri, The Namesake

"Death is not romantic. He is dying, / No matter how I see it, no matter / what I believe, the fact is stark / and one dimensional, atonal, / a black note on an empty staff."

                                           ~Dorianne Laux, Abschied Symphony

"My kid days were pretty good ones, on the whole.  My parents were patient and kind and approximately normal.  They didn't chain me in the cellar.  They didn't call me 'It.'  I was born a boy and allowed to stay that way.  My mother, as you'll see, sent me to school once in Capri pants, but otherwise there was little trauma in  my upbringing."

~Bill Bryson, The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid
