Healthy Harbour Watchers is a group of people from around Dunedin, lead by Andrew Innes, dedicated to investigating and monitoring the health of the Otago harbour. Our main goal is to build up a knoweledge base on the general physio-chemical and biological patterns of Otago harbour.
Currently, there is only a small amount of data available in reference to the health of Otago harbour. The aspects which we investigate are oxygen concentration, salinity, nutrients (nitrates, nitrites, phosphates and silicates), concentrations and pH. Physical and biological measurements include temperature, turbidity, chlorophyll a concentrations and enterococci counts in the water.
