A Pathfinder created by Emily Miller February 22, 2010 Health and fitness are two things you will learn about your entire life. This pathfinder is intended to assist elementary, middle, and high school students in locating quality internet sources about their physical, and in some cases, emotional, well-being. Selection Process Materials were chosen based on the following: Accuracy - information is no more than ten years old and sites are sponsored by authoritative sources. User Friendly and Age Appropriate - websites are easy to navigate for the intended audience. Websites for children (specifically, elementary school students) are free of graphic content and language. The language that is used is easy for the average student to read and understand. Websites for teens (specifically, middle and high school students) are free of graphic content and language. The language that is used is easy for the average student to read and understand. Information for Teachers - not all of the good websites have information for teachers, but I did make a point of looking for sites that do have it. Keywords When performing a search for topics on health, the following terms are helpful: Health Fitness Active Well-Being Healthy Nutrition Physical Emotional Exercise Work-Out Food Label Fruits Vegetables Produce Food Pyramid Recipes Body Mind Find Additional Resources Check out the School Media Center website to locate books on health and fitness! (If I had such a website, it would go here.) Check out your local library: Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne http://www.acpl.lib.in.us/aboutus/index.html |
