We Still Offer:

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy used to treat dysfunction, accompanying pain and restriction of motion. Fascia is connective tissue that surrounds muscles, groups of muscles, blood vessels, and nerves.  It is an incredibly strong tissue with a tensile strength 2-8X stronger than muscle tissue.  Repetitive movements or trauma will increase the density of the fascia.  The result is a kind of binding where the fascia holds the body in a compromised or damaged position and causes chronic pain.  Myofascia Release is a technique that releases this binding.  Although you may book this style as a 'menu' choice, we will listen for the language you use about your pain during an intake before your session.  Your language about your history with any condition plus our skill in palpating soft tissue enables us to construct an appropriate therapy session.

Muscle Restore Technique for Migraine

Specifically for migraines, these sessions focus on neck, back, and gluteal muscles. These muscles often contribute to recurring migraine patterns, but they can also be coaxed into loosening their grip. Approximately 85% of clients receive relief from migraines in just 6 weeks.  Past clients have agreed to answer your questions; please call for a contact number.  Six weekly sessions, 30 minutes each are recommended.

Hot Stone

Hot Stone Massage combines Swedish relaxation therapy with bodywork focused on specific problem areas.  The wonderful therapeutic benefits of heat provide relief and relaxation simultaneously.

Ayurvedic Treatments
  • Abhyanga
  • Shirodhara
For thousands of years Ayurveda has been a complete system of medicine, originating in India.  It is very complex and physicians spend years earning their degrees just as Western doctors do.  Ayurvedic medicine places particular emphasis upon prevention of illness and includes protocols for diet, nutrition, herbs, exercise, and body treatments. Two spa/health treatments are abhyanga massage and shirodhara. Abhyanga uses copious amounts of warmed sesame oil and is a rhythmical, choreographed massage. It is deeply relaxing for those who have the most trouble doing so. The treatment can be done with one therapist or as a synchronized version done with two therapists.

Shirodhara is a treatment that can induce deep meditative states by allowing warmed oil to stream upon the ajna, or third eye.  It is prescribed by Ayurvedic physicians to relieve anxiety, depression, headaches and insomnia. This unusual treatment is literally thousands of years old as spoken of in Vedic texts.  Western practitioners are studying its ability to stimulate alpha and theta brain waves; both necessary for the body's healing state to be optimal.

Lymphatic Drainage

The lymphatic system is different from the circulatory and muscle systems of the body and this modality differs from other bodywork styles. Its purpose is to amplify the natural flow of lymph which travels in a wave-like flow.  The lymph system contains our immune cells, hormones, and metabolic waste products and so it is essential for this system to move efficiently.  Lymph congestion (swelling) can result from injuries, surgeries, tight bras, or lack of movement. Sometimes the swollen or sagging areas of the neck, eyes or axial (armpit) regions are simply sluggish lymph.  This very gentle technique moves fluid efficiently and noticeably.
A few important applications of LDT are:
  • as a manual way to reduce and eliminate swelling after node-dissections for breast cancer patients.
  • post-surgery LDT can eliminate swelling, thus speeding the recovery process.  Surgeons in Europe have been prescribing it for years and it is becoming a more commonly recommended treatment in the U.S.
  • old injury or surgical sites that remain swollen can respond to just a few lymphatic sessions.
We will teach you some rudimentary lymphatic strokes that you can use between sessions.

Pre-/Post-Natal Massage

Celebrate gestation through touch.  Hormones during pregnancy can be a challenge to your structure.  Hormones cause ligaments to soften; muscles respond by tightening, creating discomfort.  Massage brings these opposing forces into balance.  In addition, massage triggers the relaxation response. One effect of this response is greater nutrient flow to the baby, or growing a better baby!
