Kickoff event at the Birmingham Public Library, 2100 Park Place, on July 22

The artists have been chosen and the twenty heads are back from being decorated!  And they are fabulous!  After the Kickoff event, there will be several educational events at the Birmingham Public Library--psychologists will be able to discuss the topics presented on the Heads, brochures will be available for the taking.

Sponsorships are still available--those who donate $5,000 can own a head after the tour is completed.   headsupalabama@gmail.com for more info.





September, 2011 update

Most heads have been distributed to sponsors.  There are a few heads remaining who need good, appropriate homes--locations that are preferably mental health-related, and that can continue to spread the message of the connection between mind and body, how psychology related to everyday life.

KBR, one of our largest sponsors, has chosen Walter Moore's "Under Fire" Head.
Bolling Family Foundation, our biggest sponsor,  has chosen Tracie Noles-Ross's Head, "Back to Nature."
Altapointe, a $5K sponsor, has chosen Christy Falligant's Head, "Patterns of Behavior."
They will be distributed after the exhibit leaves UAB's Lister Hill Library--School of Public Health sponsor there.

Heads Up returns to Birmingham

The School of Public Health at UAB will host the exhibit in April at the Lister Hill Library, Alabama Museum of Medical History, 3rd floor.  Stay tuned for more details.
From January through the middle of February, the Heads were at the VA Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Bldg 137, Serenity Garden. 

Gadsden's First Friday

The project is at the Gadsden Museum of Art.  First Friday on Broad Street--come see the heads in all their glory, pick up information on how psychology and healthy living go hand in hand.  Thanks to all the artists who made this project possible!

Heads are Rolling!

From Huntsville, the Heads and the project will move to Gadsden Museum of Art on September 29.  After a couple of First Friday events on Broad Street, the project will head south to Mobile, November 9 through the middle of December.

Short Vacation

From August 24, the heads will take a short vacation, to get new pedestals made.  The weather was not very kind to those lovely grey granite-like holders of the lovely heads.After September 10 you can visit the heads and get the health information at Calhoun Community College, Huntsville campus. Garden Party

The Heads are enjoying the summer weather at Aldridge Botanical Gardens in Hoover.  Take your water, wander the gardens and see the heads--read the attached messages, and take home brochures.  They will be there, mostly under the pavillion through August 23.
