Equally adept at oil and acrylic painting, airbrush and dry media, Sue
Ellen
Brown has enjoyed over thirty years of success in both the commercial
and fine
art worlds. After earning her BFA from the University of North Texas in
1977,
Sue Ellen assisted Dallas illustrator Don Ivan Punchatz, then worked
for six
years as staff artist with Hallmark. She has illustrated a number of
children’s
books for a variety of publishers, including Macmillan’s Winter’s
Child.
Working with commercial clients such as McDonalds, Denny’s, and Pepsi,
she has
produced countless images for promotional materials ranging from gift
wrap to
Happy Meals, in addition to cover art for numerous books and magazines.
Described by The Birmingham News as a lyrical linear
abstractionist for
her Shellz series, Sue Ellen has a singular ability to describe
volumes
in a highly designed space with an elegant interplay of color. Her
focused
technique and attention to detail have earned her national awards and
recognition, including two Paragon Awards from the National Council for
Marketing and Public Relations, inclusion in the New York City Society
of
Illustrators’ Humor Exhibition, the Encyclopedia of Fantasy and Science
Fiction
Art Techniques, and the Magic game card series. She continues to
produce
a variety of paintings in a range of graphic, impressionist, and
illustrative
styles. |
