I live and work from my home studio in Sylacauga,
Alabama. I am a graduate of The University
of Alabama, and a self-taught artist. Creating art is not always a pleasant process for me, my
work is created from the thoughts and feelings from deep within that I choose
to expose so others can experience and obtain part of my expressionism. My subject matter is not always known when I
start a work, sometimes there is no subject at all, or at least one that I am
aware of at that moment, but later comes to me while I am working. I only start a new work when I have been
evoked and an idea from that has inspired me to express it. Texture is usually a major element of my work
because I feel that with any emotion, thought, or feeling there are several
layers, bumps, and crevasses that are layered together in order for it to be
established and realized. The same is
true for my use of color, which is usually quite intense and is a vital part of
my work. All I want my work to do is to
evoke some type of feeling from the viewer, once that is established is when I
know I have accomplished my purpose.
I have been exhibiting my work for the past two years.
