Prison Bowl II

Hunter College High School hosted its second annual Prison Bowl (named after its locale, affectionately known as "the Brick Prison") on January 31st, 2009. The questions were standard mACF (pyramidal tossups, 3-part bonuses, 20/20 fomat) written by us and Walter Johnson. The distribution was more or less like an ACF packet—lots of academic questions balanced evenly (including 4/4 of the big three—literature, history, science), light on pop culture, no computational math. The format was five rounds of preliminary bracketed round-robin in the morning, then another five rounds of re-bracketed round-robin in the afternoon, with a 2-round advantaged final. We ran a paperless tournament, including Excel scoresheets.

Congratulations to State College A for winning; congratulations to Dorman and Charter A for finishing second and third place respectively.  Congratulations to Henry Gorman of Charter A for winning Individual Award.  Full tournament statistics can be found here.

Many thanks to the faculty and students not part of quizbowl who volunteered their time to help make this possible. The full set can be found here.
