Quiz Bowl on IRC

Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is used by many quiz bowlers to communicate online. To use IRC, you need an IRC client like Mibbit, mIRC, or Pidgin.

  • channel #quizbowl on server irc.slashnet.org (port 6667)
This is the general channel for quiz bowl. There are frequenters from all over the quiz bowl world, including (mostly) college students. The channel is usually active very late at night.
  • channel #scobowl on server irc.slashnet.org (port 6667)
This room contains a bot that can read ACF tossups and keep score. A place to practice without a human moderator.
  • channel #hsqbpackets on server irc.slashnet.org (port 6667)
A channel for high school players to read packets to each other. There is a bot here too but it doesn't read questions or keep score; it just keeps track of who is the reader and who buzzed first.
  • channel #hchsqb on server irc.slashnet.org (port 6667)
This is the channel that the Hunter team uses exclusively for itself whenever we want to hold practices. Sometimes we just chill there.
