History

The Hunter quiz bowl team was founded in the winter of 2005-06 by Guy Tabachnick and Tony Cheng, both class of 2009. A small membership developed under the advisory of counselor Chris Rogutsky. In October 2006, the team, being temporarily advised by lab technician Asumana Randolph, performed very well in its first tournament at Thomas Jefferson High School in Alexandria, VA. The team has since attended many other tournaments, regional and national. Soon afterwards, math teacher Melanie Pflaum took over as advisor, a post she held until her departure from HCHS after the 2007-08 school year. Since September 2008, the team has been advised by math teacher Stephen Young. In June 2011, the team came in 2nd place in the PACE National Scholastics Championship.

Lily Chen, Class of 2012, Captain
I live in Forest Hills, Queens, and like all Asians, I am addicted to bubble tea. I specialize in science, math, and eunuchs. I run Linux on my home computer. In my free time I like to sleep, make stuff, and remind people that Huang Minlon is one person. I also have 1337 5p|234|)5|-|33+ 5|<1|_|_z.

Mehnaj Ahmed, Class of 2012

I like sweet foods and coffee, but I hate sweet coffee. My "specialty" is pop culture, and my crowning achievement was first lining an Arrested Development tossup. I can only hope that it was categorized under fine arts. In my spare time I like to read, sleep, and listen to Joy Division.

York Chen, Class of 2012

Woooo Brooklyn, woooo female vocalists, wooo literature, et cetera. I'm a pretty fun guy, I swear! Head patters can continue to pat heads and have their heads pat as long as they leave me out of it.

William Dou, Class of 2013

I live on the far end of Queens, also known as "The Nuclear Waste". I pretend to play the piano and the saxophone. I like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and my favorite pony is Fluttershy. I also like Mythology. My ideal fanfiction would be one in which Twilight Sparkle becomes Thor. I do, in fact, wear more orange than Zihan. I liked being patted on the head, but then I grew about a foot. Now I'm 3'5"!

My name is Matthew, and I live in Manhattan. I am the one who knows religion questions on the team, but I also can answer History, Geography, Science, and Art questions. While my height makes it hard to be patted, I would not be unhappy if someone patted me on the head.

I’m a Brooklynite who found this Google Site before even being accepted to Hunter, but was too terrified to join until about midway through eighth grade. I enjoy reading scifi, playing violin, and aiding scientific progress (i.e. procrastinating) on Foldit. My favorite Doctor is David Tennant and the coolest pony is indisputably Twilight Sparkle.

Brent Morden, Class of 2015
Brent A. Morden is a fascinating little boy. His interests include science, psychology, Harry Potter, comedy, and the internet. He can often be found on his computer, either doing homework, watching YouTube videos, or composing music. Brent enjoys the company of his friends and his pet birds. As a member of Quiz Bowl, Brent's duties include comic relief, losing The Game, and being a ham. Brent also likes to refer to himself in 3rd person when writing biographies and his nickname is "Brenticles"! Have a lovely week, reader.

I am Paul Moschetti. My skills in quiz bowl include baseball and prolific negging. One time I got 5 powers against Maggie Walker. If you haven't heard that already you need to come to quiz bowl more. Another thing I really like is a band called the "Beach Boys". If you attempt to suggest another band is better than the Beach Boys, you are just fooling yourself.

I was first exposed to quiz bowl when Zihan stole my bookbag and put it in the practice room. I was subsequently forced to choose either quiz bowl or his fist. It was not a difficult decision.
I live somewhere rather close to Dou. I'm not too sure where. I am proud to call myself the biggest My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fan in quiz bowl. My favorite pony is Pinkie Pie.

I live in Queens, New York. I enjoy watching 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic,' and my favorite pony is Fluttershy. (However, unlike Dou, I wouldn't want her as my 'waifu' / wife.) I read mainly fantasy/sci-fi books, which means I'm bad at literature tossups. (And most tossups in general). I like secrets (but not keeping them). I would probably like being pat on the head (because being an older sister in a family with five kids makes one want to be a little sister once in a while). Oh, and my favorite color is pink.

I journey from Huguenot, on the distant Island of Staten. I am in fact Asian, not B-sian, nor C-sian for that matter. All music composed up until the year 1910 is acceptable to me. The other notable thing about me is that I have 3 children named York, Kevin, and Kevin.

I like Sweden, strawberries, and sudoku. I have many stuffed animals, including Forge the monkey, Ananta the snake and Asterisk the octopus. In my free time, I eat pistachios, read fanfiction, and occasionally do homework. I do not enjoy reading tossups on French literature or having my head pat.

I wear way too much orange according to a lot of people. Also I'm supposed to be the history player but I fail epically at pronunciation. I want Chinese history to come up more. Don't let my picture fool you, I'm the angriest person alive. You pat me on the head and I will rip your arms away from your body.
