AssignmentsPoetry Unit #1

Please read the following poems and respond to them in your poetry journal/notebook prior to class discussion on the dates indicated.  Your response may include your personal reaction, but it should also include some comment on the literary devices used, the themes, the form, etc.  Use all of the knowledge that you’ve gained in the past as to how to explicate poetry.  If you need help, consult Write for College (book you can check out from the classroom)

The poems can be found in your textbooks:  Literature:  An Introduction to Reading and Writing and Glencoe’s British Literature.  You can also find the poems on the internet.
