On March 22, 2002, media activists dressed as angels stormed FCC headquarters

"The night after I was sworn in, I waited for a visit from the angel of public interest. I waited all night, but she did not come."--Michael K. Powell, Chairman, Federal Communications Commission. Head of the FCC, Michael Powell (son of US war criminal Colin Powell) had recently approved the existence of even worse corporate media monopolies than ever before. Defending his decision, the chairman sarcastically told the reporters: "The night after I was sworn in, I waited for a visit from the angel of public interest. I waited all night, but she did not come." On Friday, March 22, 2002 media activists dressed as the Angels of Public Interest descended upon FCC Headquarters in Washington, DC. The angels attempted to go inside and meet with either Michael Powell or a representative, but were unsuccessful, as the doors were blocked by baton wielding police.
