Weekly Meditation
Every Thursday, 7pm, Andover 103
This is a non-denominational meditation, great for people who have never sat before and those with years upon years of experience.  We will be giving instruction in mindful-breath, peaceful-abiding (shamatha) meditation every week, and we hope to be able to, on occasion, offer instruction in other practices as well.  Anyone that is interested in leading the group in any meditation practice please contact us - Josh and I are leading them now, but we want to make sure the floor is open to anyone who is interested in sharing with the group.  We also will be engaging in a short Council session after every sitting, to help supplement and suport the meditation practice.

Weekly Harvard Zen Peacemaker Council Session
Every Tuesday, 7pm, Andover Chapel
This is not "techincally" sponsored by the HBC, but Mugai is leading it and we want to support it and encourage everyone to participate.  If the above mentioned meditation uses Council to supplement  it, consider this the inverse.  The group is dedicated to exploring the practice of Council, and silent mediatation is used to support the Council process.  Meditation instruction will not be offered every week, so if you have never mediatetd before you might want to come to a Thursday night meditation first, but Council instruction will be offered every week.  Please contact Mugai for more information regarding this.

Buddhist Scripture Study
Every other Friday, 11am, location TBD, starting October 10
This is a chance for us as a community of practitioner-scholars to work together on analyzing, meditating on, and working through Buddhist scripture.  We will be meeting every other week, and the hope is that every meeting a different member will serve as the leader for that session, and will lead discussion and provide a umping off point for discussion.  This will also, we hope, serve as an opportunity for those who want to practice Buddhist "preaching."  (This is not the same as giving a Dharma talk, but rather the chance to share your understanding of the Buddhadharma with the group).  We do not have any texts selected yet, the first meeting is going to be somewhat administrative, wherein we will decide which texts we want to explore and the format we hope to (at least roughly) follow every week.

Harvard Buddhist Community Member Forum
The second-to-last Wednesday of every month, 5pm, location TBD, starting October 22 (time tentative and subject to change)
We have heard a desire expressed within the community for the space to share research, either formal or informal, community members have been doing into Buddhism, the intersection of Buddhism and modern issues such as modrn medicine, environmentalism, social change, and any other topic infused with a Buddhist proclivity.  The idea is that these will be informal, and will be not only a forum for peer-lectures but also discourse, feedback, and dynamic exchange and growth.  In order for these to be successful we need community members interested in sharing.  A few members have already expressed an interest, so we can get the ball rolling, but in order to keep this going we will need your participation!  If there is a wide enough appeal we can make this a more regular occurence, but for the time being we thought it prudent to keep it as once a month.  This first month's topic is yet to be decided, we need to get in touch with those who have offered to share and finalize some arrangements, but we decided to go ahead and set a date to get the process in motion.   The date and time are somewhat liable to change, but this is as good a place to start as any.
