ISFCA-Firecode Issues

What ISFCA wants done

HB 202 should not become law.

The changes to the Fire Marshal law enacted last year should be given time to work.

ISFCA desires:

Before next year’s legislative session, meetings of all interested parties should occur.

The overall process of fire code adoption and enforcement should be reviewed by this group.

The possibility of the creation of an "Advisory & Appeals Board" to the State Fire Marshal should be discussed.  It is possible this board could handle appeals of the Authority Having Jurisdiction's local fire code enforcement decisions across the State as well as adopting and amending the International Fire Code (IFC) for the State.

The possibility that the "building code" board could function as the "fire code" board should be discussed.
