May 1st Shelton Invitational In Boys Track and Field news.....In the 50th Annual Shelton Invitational last Saturday, Dylan Summerlin and Chris Scharer placed 2nd and 3rd in the Freshman/Sophomore 1600 meters. Josh Melu Placed 9th in the long jump and placed 6th in the triple jump setting a new school record at 44'1". The Girls Track and Field team finished 7th overall and had many outstanding marks on the day. Marissa Paopao had a personal best of 111'3" to win the discus competition. Alexi Morton finished second in the 100 hurdles and the long jump. Erica Lombardo finished 5th overall in the 200m. The girls 4x100 meter relay also finished 5th. Maya wagers finished second in the freshman/sophomore 400 meter and the 4x400 meter relay finished 7th with a season best time of 4 minutes 14 seconds. The Auburn Mountainview girls had strong performances at the Pasco Invitational from senior Alexi Morton who grabbed a tie for first in the 100 with Lincoln’s Haley Stewart. Both athletes finished the race in 12.67. Morton also placed fifth in the long jump with a 17.02.50.The Lions’ 4x100 relay team of Morton, Abi Alfrey, Whitney Echols and Erika Lombardo were fifth overall with a 4994 finish. The girls competition was won by Kentwood who had 56 points.
Auburn Mountainview boys track and field beats Timberline 83-61, girls roll over Blazers 100-35 | Track and Field
The Auburn Mountainview track and field teams defeated Timberline on Thursday with the boys edging by the Blazers 83-61 and the girls winning 100-35. Event winners included Vince Wagner in the 400-meter, Dylan Summerlin in the 800, Nick Lipinski in the 1,600, Chris Scharer in the 3,200, Dylan Dever in the javelin, Josh Melu in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump, Dylan St. Louis in the pole vault, and the 4 x 400 relay of Melu, Scott Tranholt, Wagner, and Chris Ackerman. For the girls winners included Erika Lombardo in the 100 and 200, Maya Wagers in the 400, Tayla Alfrey in the 800, Alexis Hoskins in the 1,600, Janie Smargiassi in the 3,200, Katie Brown in the 100 hurdles, Marissa Paopao in the shot put and discus, McKenzie Treece in the pole vault, Alexi Morton in the long jump, the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relays of Abi Alfrey, Erika Lombardo, Alexi Morton, and Alayna Wagers, and the 4 x 400 relay of Alayna Wagers, Maya Wagers, Jamie Byarlay, and Silvia Wagner.

The Auburn Mountainview girls track and field team grabbed third place overall at last Saturday’s Kent-Meridian Invitational, scoring 65 points and finishing behind first-place Tahoma, 138 points, and Kent-Meridian, 68.5 points. Senior Alexi Morton led the charge with a school record 17-feet, 8-inch long jump. Morton also was second in the 100-meter dash with a 12.58 time. In the high jump, junior Natasha Davis was tied for second with a 5-0 jump, which broke the previous record held by Davis. The school’s 4x200 relay team, including Erica Lombardo, Alayna Wagers, Whitney Echols and Morton, also set a school record, finishing second at the meet with a 1:47.33 time. Morton and Lombardo also were part of the Auburn Mountainview 4x100 team, including Abi Alfrey and Kristina Garasimachuk, which broke the invite record with a 51.14 second time.
