Hi. I'm Ron Ieraci, your guide to PA's haunts, eerily assisted by my sister in spookdom, LC. She's from Philly, I'm from Pittsburgh, and together we're hoping to document Penn's paranormal history. We appreciate your visit to the Pennsylvania Haunts & History pages. We hope you enjoy the legends, lore, and spooky stories of the Keystone State. We believe that every ghost tale has a rich history of people, places, events and psychology behind it. We tried to capture some of this history and link it so you could share in the traditions of Pennsylvania's unique regions. Our stories run the gamut from the Lenni Lenape & Shawnee tribes through colonization, the Revolution, Indian Wars, the Civil War, Pennsylvania Dutch, mountain men, Molly Maguires, iron furnaces, river men, coal mines, oil wells, railroaders, steel mills, Amish and the everyday events of four centuries of Keystone life. We linked the primary web source of our tales. The Shadowlands is the 800 pound gorilla in the spectral realm, but all the sources deserve huge props for running down the state's lore and preserving it. You'll notice that we didn't link the newspapers and periodicals (we did cite them), which are a true treasure trove of tales. They tend to get archived, put on pay per view sites or zapped after awhile, so we don't consider the links to be terribly dependable. There's also an Alexandria's library worth of outstanding books available that explore both historic and haunted Pennsylvania themes. One last word of advice to would be ghost hunters - knock yourself out visiting public sites, but please contact the owners of private property for their permission before you go visit. Too many out of the way places have been desecrated, trashed, spray painted, and vandalized. Most people like their privacy, and trespassing is illegal, spook hunting or not. A midnight encounter with the police or a snarling watchdog is scarier than any specter you'll find.
