The Story of my Musical life.
History of David About 3 years ago, It was the end of fifth grade and I had an
important choice to make. I had to select the elective class for sixth grade,
and they were having tryouts for band that day. Now I had never even picked up
an instrument but I had a piano and had no idea how to play it or what it does.
I played it by ear and went to the tryouts. The best I could do was on a
trombone, and that is what they wrote down on the paper. I was talked out of
playing it by my mother when she said that the trombone was very "Clunky". By
the end of summer vacation I had a loan coronet from a friend of my mother and
was... a piece of junk. (Sorry Ann Marie). Sixth Grade, music wise, was, to say
the understatement of the century, terrible. Things Get Real It's Christmas of my seventh grade year. I talk my mom into
giving me a gift early, and I could guess what it was, a trumpet. Not a used,
junky, coronet, but a $1,200+ New brass trumpet. It was the most beautiful
instrument I had ever seen, and It played much better then the coronet. When she
bought that trumpet, it was like me saying, "I will have music in my life." I
also got the finest Yamaha Piano they had, and it was also a very large sum of
money. I showed up the next school day with a smile on my face and the trumpet
in my hand. I was excited and it was lucky for me because my band class is the
first hour, so no anticipation. The Music Project Today, It is the last marking period of my 8th grade year. I
play over 10 instruments, and taught myself how to play them. I had about 4 or 5
piano lessons, but they didn't help at all. I compose music, I consider myself a
leader in my band and the trumpet section. I created a website for everyone to
see and know what I can do. I will have daily updates, and I will do requests
for people if they contact me somehow. |
