We are a busy friendly group of model engineers who meet weekly (fortnightly in winter) at our Society track in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. Members interests include live steam locomotives from 0 gauge to 5 inch gauge, steam road vehicles, and model boats. The Society owns three 5 inch gauge locomotives. The mainstay is the 0-6-0 tank, to the "Twin Sisters" design  by Austen Walton.  Useful and popular are the petrol driven 0-6-0 and the Bo-Bo electric locomotives.  All three were built by Society members. We have a 350 feet (107m) long fixed elevated track in 3.5 and 5 inch gauges, which we use regularly on meeting nights during the longer summer evenings, and for social steam weekend afternoons. The Society also has a 120 feet (37m) long portable track in 3.5 and 5 inch gauges, which we take to local fetes and school events.
