Still Broken is a poetic autobiography. Ruby Voigt has been writing poetry
for almost two decades. This is a collage of work dating back to her early years
of writing to the most recent entry: a poem written for her father shortly
before he passed away. This collection is broken down into five themes:
Brokenness, Grief, Prayer, Worship and Jesus. It's has been a continuous journey
for a woman who understands brokenness and grief. And through prayer and
worship, she has come to a fulfilling relationship with her Creator and Saviour,
Jesus Christ. Even though faith plays a key role in her life journey, she also
admits that brokenness still plays an active role as well. This is her direct
message to everyone who reads her poems. "I'm still broken. I’ve handed my life
over to the Creator of the universe, but I’m still busted up. The church is
telling me that I need to be victorious and the rest of the world is telling me
I need to chill out. Somewhere, I'm stuck in between. Not entirely lost in sin,
pain and confusion due to a faith in Christ, but not entirely victorious,
either. For most people, this doesn’t sit right, but that is exactly where most
people are. God is becoming real to them, but they are still tripping over their
humanity. I just want to share my story and let everyone else know that it’s
okay. It's okay to hurt, it’s okay to cry, it’s okay to be "Still Broken"… but
the big thing is, that it doesn’t have to end that way. There is hope beyond the
hopelessness, a life beyond death and a way out of the wilderness. That way out
