Club Races

Hampshire Road Race League

All 2009-2010 HRRL races are now included on the club calendar and are all listed below, with links where available.

Hart Road Runners have both Ladies & Men's teams entered in the league - all you have to do is enter one of the races and you will be part of the team.

Here are brief details of the 12 races in this years HRRL running from
September 2009 to May 2010:

This year the league will be contested over the following distances 2 x 5 Miles, 3 x 10K, 4 x 10 Miles, 2 x Half Marathons, 1 x 20 Miles, and include a host of our club favourites like Bramley, Stubbington, Gosport. Of course all the races will be included in the MRC (Multi Race Challenge) and looking at the calendar set-up will fit neatly into any training program. If you're interested in picking up a "PB" or two or challenging for an Achievement Award the following races should give a great chance: Victory 5, Gosport 1/2, Eastleigh 10k, Netley 10K.

Finally for you anoraks the Men will start in Div 2 and the Women Div 3. The Victory 5 has moved from its December slot to mid September, also to aid London training their are no league races in April.

Some races can be entered by clicking on the race name below. Others, by visiting the club website, also below.

Achievement Awards

Originally the idea of Achievement Awards was conceived by Spindle, our dedicated Chairman, to do what it says on the tin – reward runners for their racing achievements. After a lot of research Ali came up with a comprehensive list of race times for 4 levels of achievement – designated Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum – for all age groups. She has recently added 20 mile times so you may want to look up your past race performances!

It isn’t possible to scan every list of race results and match runners times with an achievement award, (although Ali does keep an eye out for the platinums), so you do have to claim your award by submitting your official race time via Carol or Spindle. You will be rewarded with a certificate presented by Spindle in the pub on Thursday handicap night and with the support and applause of your fellow runners.

Times are available below (click on the link) and on the downstairs notice board in the leisure centre and Ali is working on a hall of fame so that you can see who has achieved what – watch this space!

Cross Country League

The Cross Country is almost upon us, we participate in The Today’s Runner Cross Country League.

The league has 19 running clubs who compete in 7 multi-terrain events held between November and March. The Division Champions and Runners Up will be invited to represent Hampshire at the National Finals, which are held in March. Last season Farnham Runners were the champions with Stubbington Green Runners in 2nd place. HRR came 3rd which was an absolutely brilliant result. Let’s go for it this season.

Typically there are between 200 - 250 runners at each race.  Men and women compete in the same race, with the first 5 men and first 3 women from each club scoring points. This is the important bit: all abilities take part and even non-scorers can affect the result by getting ahead of scorers from other clubs. This is the reason we want as many runners as possible at each event, last season when HRR had the biggest turn out we had our best results.

Racing in this league is about friendly competition and making sure everyone enjoys the events. An added bonus and part of the friendly atmosphere at these events is that each host club provides refreshments (for £1) while the results are prepared and presented. We know who provide the best cakes!

The dates for the 2009/2010 season have been set as below, so please make a note of them in your diary now, anyone requiring a kitchen pass, please apply for it now!

The dates for the 09/10 Cross Country League are as follows:

Date                Host Club                            Venue
8th Nov 09       Portsmouth Joggers              Queen Elizabeth Country Park
22nd Nov 09     Basingstoke & Mid Hants AC  Pamber Forest
13th Dec 09      Farnham Runners                 The Bourne, Farnham
3rd Jan 10        Hart Road Runners               Lord Wandsworth College
24th Jan 10      Liss Runners                         Liss Forest
7th Feb 10       Stubbington Green Runners    Manor Farm Country Park
14th Mar 10     Denmead Striders                  Staunton Country Park

All races begin at 11am and all runners MUST wear a club vest.

HRR will be the host club on 3rd January, for this we will need both lots of runners and lots of helpers. When we last hosted the event at Lord Wandsworth College we were praised for having the best “real” cross country course. Also, we were first to provide hot food, which was excellent.

This year’s captains are Carol and Ged. Please do not hesitate to contact them for any information, help or support.

Ged – g.ruffle@btinternet.com

(This season the ineligibility rules has been reduced which means that men who have run faster than 5:30 minutes per mile pace and women who have run faster than 6:00 minutes per mile pace in a measured road race of 5 miles or more in the twelve months prior to the first race of the season are ineligible for any race in this league. This converts to 10k times of 34:11 - men and 37:17 – ladies).
