They said what?!

Reflections on British Literature as required for a grade.

I wrote my paper this week over the idea of intellectual beauty and why Victor Frankenstein failed to find intellectual beauty in his pursuit to find the secret to life.  Victor failed to find intellectual beauty out of his own pride and his rejection of the Monster.

I also must say that I found my own intellectual beauty this weekend.  With the Presidential Primary coming to Oklahoma this weekend I have been conflicted on who to vote for.  I have been a John Edwards fan but he has suspended his campaign.  However, this morning I watched a video of Barack Obama's speech 'Yes We Can.'  I have never been inspired so much by watching someone speak.  I had goosebumps.  I have found my intellectual beauty for this weekend and it was satisfaction in knowing that I can proudly vote for Barack Obama on Tuesday.

The literature we read this week in class seemed different than the ones we read last week.  The poems and literature we read seemed a little more transient and less concrete than last week.  I'm looking forward to discussing the different novels we are supposed to read next week.

The first week of this class has been an interesting one.  I have had to adapt working on this class to my schedule.  However, I do enjoy the ability to do work as time allows during the week.

I enjoyed reading the poems of William Blake this week.  As someone who is very interested in politics, I always enjoy the political insights of authors through their writings.  Blake definitely hits on some subjects that are very near and dear to my heart, the poor and underprivileged.  It is a problem that continues to this day.  Although not as drastic as 19th century England, there are still millions of children and families who go hungry on the streets everyday.  If no one speaks out for these people, then who will?
