What shoud I do When Life Gets Scary? There is probably more than one answer to that question. If you’re being chased by a herd of wildebeests, then you should "RUN! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!" Jungle animals probably don’t live in your neighborhood, though, do they? Most things in life that are scary are not dangerous. They are just overwhelming. They stretch us out of our comfort zone. We aren’t really sure it’ll be OK or that we’ll succeed. It’s stuff like tests and families and new relationships. There was a king in the Old Testament that took his fear to God. His name was Jehoshaphat. God told him not to be afraid the battle he was facing was God’s not his. That’s really true for you, too. If you’re God’s child then He’s fighting on your side. Trust in Him to fight the battle and you use your common sense to keep yourself out of the firing line. Think About It
There are so many bible passages that speak of fear and how we need to place them into God’s hands. Most of the things we fear are things that we are afraid might happen, but rarely do they every happen. If they do happen turn to God for strength to get you through it. But don’t live in fear of something that probably won’t even happen. We fear the unknown. We fear the consequences of our mistakes, We fear the loss of people and things we hold dear. I could go on and on. You can’t stop living because you fear what life has in store. You need to trust that God will be there with you every step of the way no matter what does or doesn’t happen. You need to make good choices to keep you out of fearful situations, and you need to talk with God about your fears and He will give you peace. Here are some of those Bible passages that will help you in times of fear: Psalm 34:4 I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. 1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Psalm 27:1-2 The Lord is my light and salvation-whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life-of whom shall I be afraid?
